Many haven’t even explored what has been provided in “the unsearchable (unlimited) riches of Christ” yet they are looking for what can be worked out in their “limited resources”.

God’s acceptance of us was because of Jesus, not us; and once we lose focus of Jesus (his person, why he came and what he did) we will gradually journey into self and when we begin to show forth our performances to gain right standing with God, then the foundation of our faith is already destroyed.

This was our state before …

Ephesians 2: 3 [KJV] – We all lived among them at one time in the cravings of our flesh, indulging its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature “CHILDREN OF WRATH.”

This is our state now …

Ephesians 1: 6 [KJV] – To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us “ACCEPTED IN THE BELOVED.”

Everything should be seen in the light of the finished work of Christ; most especially in prayer, Bible study and worship.

The Lord once spoke to me … “Before you pray; see what has been provided first in redemption, then draw your inspiration and strength from that reality.”

Our concern, focus and consciousness should be who we “ARE” in Him, what we “HAVE” in Him and Who is He to us.

Our spirit, soul and body should grasp and hold on to all of the “IN CHRIST REALITIES” and deny entrance to anything apart from Him.

2 Corinthians 4: 7 [NIV] – But we have this treasure in jars of clay TO SHOW THAT THIS ALL-SURPASSING POWER IS FROM GOD AND NOT FROM US.

Nothing is from us; all are by him, for Him, through and to Him.

Acts 17: 28 [ESV] for “IN HIM we live and move and have our being”; as even some of your own poets have said, “FOR WE ARE INDEED HIS OFFSPRING.”

James 1: 18 [NLT] – He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. AND WE, OUT OF ALL CREATION, BECAME HIS PRIZED POSSESSION.

The last three scriptures above also clearly show how our state in God and the abundant power made available to us. God was aware of our inabilities, shortcomings and frailties, yet He chose to display his power and store up his treasures in our earthen vessels.

If “WE ARE NOT INDEED HIS OFFSPRINGS” as the scripture stated above why was He so interested in us in the first place? We didn’t look out for Him; He sought us out by Himself and for Himself.

We didn’t know what plans He had for us until we accepted Him and begin to see ourselves in His glory; we didn’t even know what package there is in the gift (salvation) until we unfolded it and found out that, it was actually God himself (and we are still unfolding).

We didn’t choose Him; He chose us and called us “HIS PRIZED POSSESSION”. What did we do to deserve such honour? On what ground or merit?

He just lavishly gave it to us …

This is His unimaginable character!

1 John 3: 1 [KJV] – Behold, what manner of love the FATHER HATH BESTOWED UPON US, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

If God didn’t require a confession of sin on our part or any moral uprightness to grant us salvation and yet He chose us as “HIS PRIZED POSSESSION”, why would he require our confession of sins or moral uprightness before our salvation can be kept or assured?

James 1: 18 [KJV] – “OF HIS OWN WILL” begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

Ephesians 1: 11 [KJV] – In whom also WE HAVE OBTAINED AN INHERITANCE, being PREDESTINATED according to the purpose of him who worketh all things AFTER THE COUNSEL OF HIS OWN WILL:

Everything we are or have is as a result of His own will, purpose and choice (A predetermination counsel of God).

The same way it pleased God that in Christ should all the fullness dwell, the same way He was pleased to choose us.

Colossians 1: 19 [NAS] – For it was THE FATHER’S GOOD PLEASURE for all the fullness to dwell in Him,

It was His Choice!

It was His Choice to save us – [Ephesians 2: 7 – 8]

It was His Choice to seal us till the day of redemption by the Holy Spirit – [Ephesians 4: 30]

It was His choice not to remember our sins no more – [Hebrews 8: 12; Isaiah 43: 25]

It was His choice not to leave or forsake us – [Hebrews 13: 5]

It was His chose to also save us to the uttermost – [Hebrew 7: 25]

It was His choice that we should never perish – [John 3: 16]

We have no part in this agreement or contract!

It is between the Father and the Son! We are only the outcome of their agreement and contract!

So what is our duty?

To believe …

This is how righteousness is imputed.

To know …

This is how we become rooted and grounded.

To appreciate and spread the message …

This is how to value God’s investment in us.

CONFESSION – I live to value God’s great investment and heritage for me in Christ Jesus, and I spread God’s unfailing love to everyman’s world.
